Random Sunday fact

Joseph Baermann Strauss was born in Cincinnati in 1870 and became one of the most famous engineers in the country. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, he became an engineer; in fact he became the Chief Engineer on the Golden Gate Bridge project in San Francisco. He left Cincinnati for California and after the Golden Gate Bridge was completed, he lived and consequently died in Los Angeles a year later. However, he made sure to show his Cincinnati pride by placing a brick from the demolished McMicken Hall at the University of Cincinnati in the south anchorage before the concrete was poured on the Golden Gate Bridge. It's crazy to think that a national landmark thousands of miles away has a piece of Cincinnati history lying within it's foundation.
